Have you ever heard of a perpetual motion machine? If you have, then you have also probably heard that such things are impossible. The laws of physics, specifically the laws of thermodynamics tell us so. But is this really true? Wouldn’t it be fun if perpetual motion really was possible! In this article, we explore the laws of physics, specifically thermodynamics and motion, and determine whether or not perpetual motion machines are really possible after all (Hint: if the answer is they are truly impossible it wouldn’t be a very interesting article 🙂). As a bonus, appendices on Newton's Laws of Motion and “Dark Energy” are included!
