haiti outreach support project

ABOUT THE HAITI PROJECT

Truth Cornerstone Project is working to support the outreach work that is already in motion in Haiti. PEACE Project has done a tremendous amount of work with three schools in particular. There is also a Christadelphian Church that is growing exponentially and preaching efforts are a strong focus as well as sustainability and independence through agriculture.

Schools Supported by PEACE Project

IMAPEG School

IMAPEG (Instution mexte academie des Petits Genies), a fancy name for a school for boys and girls calling them geniuses. Our original school running on 10 years. We have 250 students attending Pre-K through 9th grade. We are currently in a rented facility and have purchased land, put down the cement pad and shipped a container with two steel buildings to erect early next year. Once the buildings are complete, the school will move to our new location.

Passion du Saviour School

Passion du Saviour, is assisted by PEACE Project. About ½ salaries and tuitions are paid for and we provide a meal daily to all students and staff. This school is also Pre-K through 9th grade. There are about 100 students attending.

Horeb School

Horeb School-their newest school just opened in November 2020. This is a school on a mountain where there wasn’t a school before. This school is for about 150 students. It was built by Haitians in Haiti and paid for by a grant from the US. They provide a meal daily at this school as well. This school is currently attended by children in Pre-K through 6th grade.

Haiti peace project

Haiti PEACE Project oversees the above-mentioned schools. PEACE stands for Promoting Education and Community Empowerment. They have some things for the students to build community such as small space gardening, but they are working to expand that to a full Agronomist class through the community near the Horeb School as they live on a mountain where this land. Our other two schools are very much in the city with no fields to grow plants.

Community center

They are working to set up a community center that would provide various services. This is being reviewed to launch late summer or in the fall. We are in the planning stages and hope to get to Haiti next month to review properties. This project would involve several years of someone being in Haiti to oversee the operations. Once the operations were fully developed, we would leave the project to the Haitian staff as that is always the goal, to get them up and running. We would include classes for students (i.e. for the older boys a “shop” class where they build something), some adult classes if possible including subjects such as English or health or trade. We hope to be able to impact the community beyond the students with this portion of the project.

preaching efforts

There is currently a Christadelphian church in Haiti that is going strong that we have been providing conferences on a regular basis (when possible 2 per year). From this we have had other church members from other congregations in and requesting we come talk to them as well. One local pastor has allowed us to come and host a Bible conference and we will be heading back down 1st quarter 2021 for their second conference. We have two other “local” churches making the request and we have a couple that walks 8 hours to come to our conferences. They are requesting we come out and talk to them and teach them. That would require both a 4 wheel drive vehicle to drive part of the way and possibly tents as we will have to hike into speak with them.
